the wife of one of our lawyers is a judge here in dallas, and i overheard her husband telling a couple of other lawyers about this really tough case she has right now: deciding to issue a court order to give blood to premature twins whose parents are witnesses.
i popped in with "i'm an ex-jw -- ask me anything" so he and i started talking about the blood issue.
the father of the twins was in tears in the courtroom -- not because of his babies getting blood but because he was afraid he would be accused of giving his consent to the blood transfusion.

I had a friend who was the head of the infant treatment center floor at Boston Mass for a number of years.
She told me that several times she had J.W. parents call her into her office on the hospital floor and beg her to go get a court order to take their baby so it could have a blood transfusion.
And she did this on several occassions over the years. This way, the elders could not disfellowship them and it gavethem out of this crazy stupid J.W. "no blood transfusion law".

I have been rudely greeted by a female greeter there, Heart2heart. I'd like to think she had pms but I think she was too old for that. Must have just been a bad day...which happens to us all.
I'll walk up and say to this "elder" greeter guy..
"Hi, I'm a disfellowshipped apostate holiday celebrating friend of Kwin and Heart2 hearts and I want to thank you for welcoming me to your Walmart" Then wait for his wonderful welcome and I'll make sure I need lots of help with kids, carts bags and such. LOL

i remember a time when the brothers locked the doors during a meeting.

right before i disassociated myself last march, i sent an email to quite a number of jw's that contained only a link to an "apostate" website that had been instrumental in my seeing the the truth about the wt.. well, nobody responded to it except for one person, a guy who i hadn't had any contact with my last year in.
he started out with "yikes, do you know i'm disfellowshipped?
" he then went on for several paragraphs defending the org, how loving the brothers were when they disfellowshipped him .

Ok, we decided not to bring her home. We offered Zach the option of going to the vet, or just telling us something to say to the cat for him. He decided he didn't want to go, and gave us a message to tell her.
I agree with the way this all was done. You gave your six year old a choice and he made it. I think he made a good decision considering his young age.
Sometimes, I have had my kids write a short note to a dearly departed when they weren't able to see them before they died. When they were little they'd tell me what they'd like to write and I wrote it for them and had it placed in the casket of a pet that died suddenly. It was a great way to help my kids have some type of closure to their losses. We had quite a family funeral for one of our guinea pigs as I can remember.
